The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
29 verses, revealed in Mecca after Thorns (Al-Masad) before The All High (Al-A'alaa)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
When the sun is wrapped up [in darkness] 1 And when the stars shall dart down, 2 And when the hills are moved, 3 when the ten-months pregnant camels shall be abandoned, 4 And when the wild beasts are herded together, 5 And when the seas shall be filled, 6 And when souls are reunited, 7 And when the girl-child that was buried alive is asked 8 for what crime she was slain, 9 when the records of men's deeds are laid open, 10 The curtain drawn back from the skies, 11 and Hell is stoked, 12 when Paradise is brought close: 13 then shall each person know what he has brought along. 14 Rather, I swear by the returning 15 the runners, the sinkers, 16 and the night that falls, 17 And by the dawn when it breathes 18 truly this is the word of a noble Messenger 19 who is honored in the presence of the Lord of the Throne, 20 The one who is obeyed, and trustworthy. (Other angels obey angel Jibreel). 21 And your companion is not gone mad. 22 in truth he saw him (Gabriel) on the clear horizon, 23 He is not avid of the Unseen. 24 Nor is this [message] the word of any satanic force accursed. 25 When whither go ye? 26 This is a reminder for all the peoples of the world, 27 For him among you who pleases to go straight. 28 Though you cannot desire except as God will, the Lord of all the worlds. 29
