The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the mount 1 And [by] a Book inscribed 2 on parchment for distribution, 3 by the much-visited House, 4 Consider the vault [of heaven] raised high! 5 and the sea swarming, 6 Verily the torment of thine Lord is sure to befalls 7 There is none can avert it;- 8 Upon the day when heaven spins dizzily 9 and the mountains quickly move. 10 Woe will be to those who rejected the Truth 11 Who, ignoring the Reality, engage in pleasantries. 12 on the Day when they shall be thrust into the fire with [an irresistible] thrust, [and will be told:] 13 "This is the Fire which you used to deny. 14 “So is this magic, or are you unable to see?” 15 Taste you therein its heat, and whether you are patient of it or impatient of it, it is all the same. You are only being requited for what you used to do. 16 Those who fear God and follow the straight path will surely be in gardens and in bliss, 17 Enjoying the (Bliss) which their Lord hath bestowed on them, and their Lord shall deliver them from the Penalty of the Fire. 18 (It will be said): 'Eat and drink with a good appetite because of that which you did' 19 They will recline (with ease) on thrones arranged in ranks. And We shall marry them to Houris (female, fair ones) with wide lovely eyes. 20 And those who believed, and whose progeny also followed them in their faith, will be united with their offspring. We will not deprive them of their labour in the least. Every man is bound to what he does. 21 We shall give them fruits and meats, and what they desire. 22 They shall pass therein from one to another a cup wherein there shall be nothing vain nor any sin. 23 ۞ and there go round them youths, their own, as if they were hidden pearls. 24 They advance one upon another, asking each other questions. 25 saying, "We were afraid while in the world. 26 "But Allah has been good to us, and has delivered us from the Penalty of the Scorching Wind. 27 before this, we used to pray to Him. Surely, He is the Beneficent, the Merciful." 28
