The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ OF WHAT ARE they asking one another? 1 About the great news - 2 concerning which they have disputes. 3 Verily, they shall soon (come to) know! 4 again, no indeed; soon will they come to know. 5 Have We not made the earth an expanse, 6 And the mountains as projections (thereon)? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 and made your sleep a means of repose, 9 And made the night as clothing 10 and made the day [a symbol of] life. 11 And We built above you seven strong ones, 12 And made [therein] a burning lamp 13 And have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water, 14 In order to produce grain and plants with it. 15 And gardens thick with trees. 16 Indeed, the Day of Decision is an appointed time, 17 It is a Day whereon the trumpet will be blown, and ye will come in multitudes. 18 And the heaven is opened and becometh as gates, 19 And the mountains shall vanish, as if they were a mirage. 20 Surely the Hell is an ambush, 21 The destination of the rebellious. 22 They will abide therein for ages. 23 Neither coolness shall they taste therein nor any [thirst-quenching] drink 24 Except scalding water and [foul] purulence - 25 , A fitting reward. 26 For indeed they did not look forward to any reckoning, 27 But they (impudently) treated Our Signs as false. 28 And everything We have recorded in a book. 29 'Taste! We shall not increase you except in punishment' 30
