Verily this is a Revelation from the Lord of the Worlds: 192 Which the trusted spirit descended with 193 to your heart that you might become one of those who warn (others on behalf of Allah), 194 In a clear Arabic language. 195 And indeed, it is [mentioned] in the scriptures of former peoples. 196 Was it not a sign for them, that it is known to the learned of the Children of Israel? 197 And had We revealed it unto any of the non-Arabs, 198 And had he recited it to them, they would not have believed in it. 199 Thus do We make it traverse the hearts of the guilty. 200 They will not believe in it until they see the painful torment; 201 And it shall come to them all of a sudden, while they shall not perceive; 202 Then they will exclaim, "Could we have some respite?" 203 Do they then ask for Our Penalty to be hastened on? 204 Hast thou then seen, if We content them for (long) years, 205 And then there came to them that which they were promised? 206 (How) that wherewith they were contented naught availeth them? 207 And withal, never have We destroyed any community unless it had been warned 208 for a reminder; and never did We wrong. 209 It was not the satans who brought it down: 210 neither are they worthy of it, nor are they capable of it, 211 Verily far from hearing are they removed. 212 Hence, [O man,] do not invoke any other deity side by side with God, lest thou find thyself among those who are made to suffer [on Judgment Day]. 213 And O dear Prophet (Mohammed peace and blessings be upon him), warn your closest relatives. 214 And lower thou thy wing unto those who follow thee as believers. 215 If they do not obey you, tell them: "I am not responsible for what you do." 216 And put thy trust on the Exalted in Might, the Merciful,- 217 Who seeth thee standing forth (in prayer), 218 and sees your movements among those who prostrate themselves: 219 Surely, He is the Hearer, the Knower. 220 Shall I inform you upon whom do the devils descend? 221 They descend upon all sinful self-deceivers 222 They pass on what is heard, and most of them are liars. 223 As for poets, the erring follow them. 224 Hast thou not seen how they stray in every valley, 225 preaching what they do not practice. 226 [Most of them are of this kind] save those who have attained to faith, and do righteous deeds, and remember God unceasingly, and defend themselves [only] after having been wronged, and [trust in God's promise that] those who are bent on wrongdoing will in time come to know how evil a turn their destinies are bound to take! 227
True are the words of God the Almighty.
