He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned (his) back, 1 Because there came to him the blind man (interrupting). 2 How canst thou know, whether haply he might be cleansed, 3 Or be reminded and the remembrance would benefit him? 4 Now he who waxes indifferent, 5 To him dost thou attend; 6 What does it matter to you if he will not become pure (from disbelief, you are only a Messenger, your duty is to convey the Message of Allah). 7 But as to him who came to thee striving earnestly, 8 And is also fearful (of God), 9 From him thou art distracted. 10 No! Indeed, these verses are a reminder; 11 so let those who want to follow its guidance do so. 12 (Contained) in honoured pages, 13 Exalted (in dignity), kept pure and holy, 14 Written by the hands of emissaries. 15 Who are noble, virtuous. 16 Perish the human! How unthankful he is! 17 Of what thing did He create him? 18 Out of a drop of sperm He creates him, and thereupon determines his nature, 19 Then the way He made easy. 20 Then He causeth him to die, and putteth him in his grave; 21 and then, whenever He wishes, He will raise him back to life. 22 Nay, but (man) has not done what He commanded him. 23 Let man reflect on the food he eats. 24 We poured out the rains abundantly, 25 and let the earth to break open 26 Then We cause therein the grain to grow, 27 And grapes and vegetables 28 Olives and dates, 29 And enclosed gardens luxuriant. 30 fruits, and grass. 31 (To be) a provision and benefit for you and your cattle. 32 At length, when there comes the Deafening Noise,- 33 That Day shall a man flee from his own brother, 34 And from his mother and father, 35 And from his wife and sons. 36 Everyman, that Day, will have enough to make him careless of others. 37 Some faces on that day shall shine 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news (of Paradise). 39 And some faces will on that Day with dust be covered, 40 o'erspread with darkness -- 41 those will be ones who denied the truth and were immersed in iniquity. 42
Almighty Allah's Truth.
