And when thy Lord called Moses, saying: Go unto the wrongdoing folk, 10 the people of Pharaoh, who refuse to be conscious of Me!" 11 He said: "My Lord! I fear that they will brand me a liar. 12 And my breast straitens, and my tongue is not eloquent, therefore send Thou to Haroun (to help me); 13 And they have a crime against me, so I fear that they will kill me. 14 He said: "Certainly not! So go both of you with Our Signs. We shall be with you listening to everything. 15 go both to Pharaoh and both of you say to him: 'We are (each) a Messenger from the Lord of all the Worlds. 16 that you let the Children of Israel go with us.'" 17 He said, 'Did we not raise thee amongst us as a child? Didst thou not tarry among us years of thy life? 18 You spent many years of your life among us and then you committed that deed of yours. You are very ungrateful indeed." 19 [Moses] said, "I did it, then, while I was of those astray. 20 So I fled from you when I feared you. Then my Lord granted me wisdom and prophethood and appointed me [as one] of the messengers. 21 Now this is the favour that you tauntingly remind me of: that you enslaved the Children of Israel!" 22 Said Pharaoh, "And what is the Lord of the worlds?" 23 Moses replied, "The Lord of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them, if you want to be certain". 24 (The Pharaoh) said to those around him: "Do you hear?" 25 He said: your Lord and the Lord of your ancient fathers. 26 [Pharaoh] exclaimed: "Behold, [this] your 'apostle' who [claims that he] has been sent unto you is mad indeed! 27 He said: Lord of the East and the West and all that is between them, if ye did but understand. 28 Said he, 'If thou takest a god other than me, I shall surely make thee one of the imprisoned.' 29 Said he: "Even if I should bring about before thee something that clearly shows the truth?" 30 Said Firaun, “Then bring it, if you are of the truthful.” 31 So (Moses) threw his rod, and behold, it was a serpent, plain (for all to see)! 32 and he drew his hand (out of his armpit) and lo! it had become a shining object to the beholders. 33
