۞ (Then will the command be given): “Muster all the wrong-doers and their spouses and the deities whom they used to serve 22 instead of God, and lead them all onto the way to the blazing fire, 23 "But stop them, verily they are to be questioned. 24 “What is the matter with you, that you do not help one another?” 25 Nay! on that day they shall be submissive. 26 And some of them inclined towards others, mutually questioning. 27 They will say: verily ye! ye were wont to come unto us Imposing. 28 They answer: Nay, but ye (yourselves) were not believers. 29 "And we had no authority over you. Nay! But you were transgressing people (disobedient, polytheists, and disbelievers). 30 The statement of Our Lord is realized against us, and we are tasting it, 31 We mislead you and we ourselves had also gone astray." 32 So verily on that Day they all in the torment will be sharers. 33 This is how We deal with the guilty. 34 Whenever it was said to them: “There is no true deity apart from Allah,” they waxed proud 35 And they said: are we going to abandon our gods on account of a poet distracted? 36 (They say so although) he brought the Truth and confirmed the veracity of the Messengers. 37 Lo! (now) verily ye taste the painful doom - 38 And be rewarded but only for what you had done, 39 Not so, however, God's true servants: 40 Those! theirs shall be a provision known: 41 Fruits. And they will be honoured 42 In Gardens of Delight. 43 They will be seated upon couches set face to face; 44 A drink will be passed round among them from a flowing spring: 45 White, delicious to the drinkers, 46 Neither dulling the senses nor intoxicating, 47 And with them will be chaste females, restraining their glances (desiring none except their husbands), with wide and beautiful eyes. 48 as if they were hidden pearls. 49 Then they will turn to one another, mutually questioning. 50 One of them will say: 'I had a companion 51 Who used to say: "Are you among those who believe (in resurrection after death). 52 Can we, when we are dead and have become mere dust and bones - can we (then) verily be brought to book? 53 He saith: Will ye look? 54 He looked down and saw him in the midst of the Fire. 55 He shall say: By Allah! you had almost caused me to perish; 56 "Had it not been for the Grace of my Lord, I should certainly have been among those brought (there)! 57 (Another will say:)"Is it true, we are not going to die 58 “Except our earlier death, and nor will we be punished?” 59 This is indeed the mighty triumph, 60 For this the toilers should strive." 61 Is that the better entertainment or the Tree of Zaqqum? 62 Surely We have made it to be a trial to the unjust. 63 Lo! it is a tree that springeth in the heart of hell. 64 The shoots of its fruit-stalks are like the heads of Shayatin (devils); 65 So indeed they will eat from it, and fill their bellies with it. 66 Then indeed, they will have after it a mixture of scalding water. 67 Then most surely their return shall be to hell. 68 Indeed they found their fathers astray. 69 So they hastily follow their footsteps! 70 And verily most of the men of old went astray before them, 71 and We sent among them warners; 72 Then see what was the end of those who were admonished (but heeded not),- 73 Only Our sincere servants were saved. 74
