In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
I swear by the emissary winds, sent one after another (for men's benefit), 1 and then storming on with a tempest's force! 2 And by the winds that scatter clouds and rain; 3 And those [angels] who bring criterion 4 Then spread abroad a Message, 5 By way of excuse or warning. 6 surely, that which you have been promised is about to fall! 7 Then when the stars become dim; 8 and the sky is rent asunder, 9 And when the mountains are made into dust and blown away. 10 And when the apostles are collected at the appointed time, 11 For what day is the time appointed? 12 For the Day of Decision. 13 And what shall teach thee what is the Day of Decision? 14 Ruin is for the deniers on that day! 15 Have We not destroyed the earlier generations? 16 and let the latter follow them? 17 Thus do We deal with the sinful ones. 18 Woe on that Day unto those who give the lie to the truth! 19 Did We not create you out of a humble fluid 20 Which We laid up in a safe abode 21 until an appointed time? 22 We determined; excellent determiners are We. 23 On that day, woe would be upon those who have rejected the revelations of God! 24 Have We not made the earth a container 25 For the living and the dead. 26 Set We not therein soaring mountains? Sated you with sweetest water? 27 Woe that day unto those who cry it lies! 28 GO ON towards that [resurrection] which you were wont to call a lie! 29 "Depart you to a shadow (of Hell-fire smoke ascending) in three columns, 30 affording neither shade, nor protection from the flames, 31 it indeed throws up sparks like castles, 32 As if they were yellowish [black] camels. 33 Woe on that day to the rejecters. 34 This is the Day they shall not speak, 35 nor shall they be permitted to offer excuses. 36 Alas the woe that day for those who deny! 37 This is the Day of Decision, We have brought you and the men of old together. 38 So if you have a plan, plan against Me (now). 39 Woe that Day to the deniers (of the Day of Resurrection)! 40
