Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Hast thou received the story of the Enveloper? 1 Many faces will be contrite on that day, 2 labouring, toilworn, 3 about to enter a glowing fire, 4 Given to drink of a spring fiercely boiling. 5 No food will there be for them but a bitter Dhari' 6 Which will neither fatten nor avail against hunger. 7 Faces on that day jocund, 8 Glad for their effort past, 9 In a high Garden. 10 Where they shall neither hear harmful speech nor falsehood, 11 Within it is a flowing spring. 12 Therein are thrones raised high, 13 and prepared goblets, 14 and arranged cushions 15 And carpets ready spread, 16 Have they not looked at how the camel is created, 17 and on the sky, how it is raised aloft, 18 And at the mountains, how they are rooted and fixed firm? 19 And at the Earth, how it is spread out? 20 Remind them, for thou art but a remembrancer, 21 and are not invested with the authority to compel them. 22 But he who turns his back, and disbelieves, 23 Allah will punish him with direst punishment. 24 Surely to Us is their turning back, 25 Ours is surely then to reckon with them. 26
