Said the eminent among the people of Pharaoh, "Indeed, this is a learned magician 109 "He wants to get you out of your land, so what do you advise?" 110 Then they advised Pharaoh: 'Put off Moses and his brother for a while, and send forth heralds to your cities 111 To bring each knowing wizard unto thee. 112 So there came the sorcerers to Pharaoh: They said, "of course we shall have a (suitable) reward if we win!" 113 He answered: Yes, and surely ye shall be of those brought near (to me). 114 They said, 'Moses, wilt thou cast, or shall we be the casters?' 115 Moses said: 'You throw.' So when they threw [their rods], they enchanted the eyes of the people, and struck them with awe, and produced a mighty sorcery. 116 Then We directed Moses: 'Now you throw your rod.' And lo! it swallowed up all their false devices. 117 ۞ Thus the truth prevailed, and that which they had brought vanished. 118 So the (great ones) were vanquished there and then, and were made to look small. 119 And the sorcerers fell down prostrate. 120 They said, “We have accepted faith in the Lord Of The Creation.” 121 the Lord of Moses and Aaron.' 122 Said Pharaoh: "Believe ye in Him before I give you permission? Surely this is a trick which ye have planned in the city to drive out its people: but soon shall ye know (the consequences). 123 "I will have your hands and feet on alternate sides cut off, and have you all crucified." 124 They replied: 'We shall surely turn to our Lord. 125 "But thou dost wreak thy vengeance on us simply because we believed in the Signs of our Lord when they reached us! Our Lord! pour out on us patience and constancy, and take our souls unto thee as Muslims (who bow to thy will)! 126
