۞ (And it is said unto the angels): Assemble those who did wrong, together with their wives and what they used to worship 22 Instead of Allah, and lead them to the path to hell; 23 And stop them, for they shall be questioned: 24 "How is it that [now] you cannot succour one another?" 25 They will submit to questioning then, 26 And some of them shall advance towards others, questioning each other. 27 saying: 'You used to come to us from the right hand' 28 They will say: “Nay, you yourselves were not the ones who would believe. 29 "And we had no authority over you. Nay! But you were transgressing people (disobedient, polytheists, and disbelievers). 30 But now our Sustainer's word has come true against us [as well]: verily, we are bound to taste [the fruit of our sins]. 31 "So we led you astray because we were ourselves astray." 32 Then verily, that Day, they will (all) share in the torment. 33 Certainly, that is how We deal with Al-Mujrimun (polytheists, sinners, criminals, the disobedient to Allah, etc.). 34 For they, when they were told that there is no god except Allah, would puff themselves up with Pride, 35 And they used to say, “Shall we forsake our Gods upon the sayings of a mad poet?” 36 Nay! he has come with the (very) Truth, and he confirms (the Message of) the messengers (before him). 37 “You surely have to taste the painful punishment.” 38 And you shall not be rewarded except (for) what you did. 39 Not so, however, God's true servants: 40 Those! theirs shall be a provision known: 41 Fruits of every kind, and they will be honoured 42 In gardens of pleasure, 43 On thrones facing one another. 44 Round them will be passed a cup of pure wine; 45 White, delicious for the drinkers. 46 Neither they will have Ghoul (any kind of hurt, abdominal pain, headache, a sin, etc.) from that, nor will they suffer intoxication therefrom. 47 And with them shall be those who restrain the eyes, having beautiful eyes; 48 (Pure) as they were hidden eggs (of the ostrich). 49 They advance one upon another, asking each other questions. 50 A speaker among them will say, "Indeed, I had a companion [on earth] 51 who would say, "Are you a confirmer? 52 When we are dead and have become dust and bones, are we indeed going to be requited? 53 Allah will say: will ye look down? 54 Then, he will look and see him in the midst of Hell. 55 'By Allah' he will say, 'you almost destroyed me! 56 But for the Favor of Allah I should have surely been among those who were arraigned (with you in Hell). 57 So, are we not going to die, 58 except for our first death? And shall we suffer no chastisement?'” 59 Lo! this is the supreme triumph. 60 For the like of this let the workers [on earth] work. 61 Is this better as an entertainment or the tree of Zaqqum? 62 Indeed, We have made it a torment for the wrongdoers. 63 It is a tree that comes forth in the root of Hell; 64 Its spathes are like the prickly pear. 65 Then most surely they shall eat of it and fill (their) bellies with it. 66 Then on top of that they will be given a mixture made of boiling water. 67 Then indeed, their return will be to the Hellfire. 68 Truly they found their fathers on the wrong Path; 69 So they (too) made haste to follow in their footsteps! 70 yet before them most of the ancients went astray, 71 And verily We sent among them warners. 72 Then see what was the end of those who were admonished (but heeded not),- 73 Except the servants of Allah, the purified ones. 74
