Hizb 46
< random >
And indeed, Jonah was among the messengers. 139 [Mention] when he ran away to the laden ship. 140 and cast lots, and was of the rebutted, 141 Then the big Fish did swallow him, and he had done acts worthy of blame. 142 And were he not one of those who praise. 143 he would certainly have remained inside the fish until the Day of Resurrection. 144 ۞ Then We cast him on a bare desert whilst he was sick. 145 And We grew a tree of gourd (as a shelter) above him. 146 Then We sent him to a hundred thousand or more, 147 and they believed in him: so We let them live in ease for a while. 148 So ask their opinion: “(Are you convinced) that your Lord should have daughters and you should have sons? 149 Or did We create the angels females, while they were witnesses? 150 It is only because of their false invention that they say, 151 'God has begotten?' They are truly liars. 152 Has He chosen daughters over sons? 153 Woe to you! How terrible is your Judgment. 154 Will ye not then reflect? 155 Or have you, perchance, a clear evidence [for your assertions]? 156 Then produce your scriptures, if you are telling the truth. 157 They have set up a kinship between Him and the jinn; and the jinn know that they shall be arraigned. 158 Glorified be Allah from that which they attribute (unto Him), 159 but not so the true servants of God, 160 You and whatever you worship 161 can lure away from God any 162 unless it be such as rushes towards the blazing fire [of his own accord]! 163 There is not one of us (angels) but has his known place (or position); 164 And verily we! we are ranged in ranks. 165 And we are they who exalt (Allah)' 166 And indeed, the disbelievers used to say, 167 “If only we had the Reminder which had been granted to the people of yore 168 Surely we would have been the bondmen of God sincere. 169 But (now that the Quran has come) they disbelieve therein (i.e. in the Quran and in Prophet Muhammad SAW, and all that which he brought, the Divine Revelation), so they will come to know! 170 And Our word has already preceded for Our servants, the messengers, 171 [That] indeed, they would be those given victory 172 and that it is Our host that would certainly triumph. 173 So, (O Prophet), leave them alone for a while, 174 And watch, for they will (soon) see. 175 What! would they then hasten on Our chastisement? 176 When that chastisement will descend upon their courtyard, evil shall that Day be for those who had been warned. 177 So turn away from them for a time 178 And watch and they shall see (the torment)! 179 Exalted is your Lord, the Lord of might, above what they describe. 180 And peace be unto the sent ones. 181 It is only God, the Lord of the Universe, who deserves all praise. 182
True are the words of God the Almighty.

Notes and Instructions
قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
