The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ When the inevitable event takes place, 1 And there can be no denying of its befalling. 2 abasing, exalting, 3 This will happen when the earth is shaken, shaken 4 The mountains bruised and crushed, 5 So that they will become floating dust particles. 6 On that day, you (mankind) will be divided into three groups: 7 The people of the right hand - those whose books of records will be placed in their right hands. How happy they will be! 8 And (as to) the companions of the left hand; how wretched are the companions of the left hand! 9 Then the foremost, how pre-excellent, 10 Who will be honoured 11 In Gardens of Bliss: 12 A multitude of those of old 13 and only a few of them from the later generations. 14 They will recline on jewelled couches 15 Reclining on them, facing one another. 16 There will circulate among them young boys made eternal 17 carrying goblets and ewers and cups filled with the purest wine, 18 neither causing headaches, nor intoxication; 19 And fruits such as they choose, 20 and such flesh of fowl as they desire, 21 And companions with big beautiful eyes 22 like unto pearls [still] hidden in their shells. 23 a recompense for all that they did. 24 They shall not hear therein vain or sinful discourse, 25 Only the saying, "Peace! Peace". 26 Those on the Right, how fortunate are those on the Right! 27 They will live amid the thornless lot trees 28 and acacias flower-clad, 29 In shade long-extended, 30 and gushing water, 31 and fruits in abundance, 32 never-ending and unrestricted, 33 And on Thrones (of Dignity), raised high. 34 We have created maidens perfectly 35 And made them virginal, 36 Loving (their husbands only), equal in age. 37 For the companions of the right [who are] 38
