This is the reasoning We gave to Abraham against his people, We raise in rank anyone We please, your Lord is wise and aware. 83 And We bestowed upon him Isaac and Jacob; each of them We guided; and Noah did We guide aforetime; and of his seed (We guided) David and Solomon and Job and Joseph and Moses and Aaron. Thus do We reward the good. 84 Zachariah and John We guided, and guided Jesus and Elias who were all among the upright. 85 and Ishmael, Elisha, Jonah and Lot. Each We preferred above the worlds, 86 and [We exalted likewise] some of their forefathers and - their offspring and their brethren: We elected them [all,] and guided them onto a straight way. 87 This is Allah's guidance, He guides thereby whom He pleases of His servants; and if they had set up others (with Him), certainly what they did would have become ineffectual for them. 88 Those are they unto whom We vouchsafed the Book and judgement and prophethood. Wherefore if those disbelieve therein, We have surely entrusted it unto a people who are not disbelievers therein. 89 Those are the ones whom Allah has guided, so from their guidance take an example. Say, "I ask of you for this message no payment. It is not but a reminder for the worlds." 90
