Al-Hijjr 3 of 6
Surely We created man of a clay of mud moulded, 26 And the jinn We created before, of intensely hot fire. 27 When your Lord said to the angels: 'See, I am creating a mortal from clay of molded mud. 28 "When I have fashioned him (in due proportion) and breathed into him of My spirit, fall ye down in obeisance unto him." 29 So the angels made obeisance, all of them together, 30 Except Iblis. He refused to bow with the adorers. 31 Said Allah, “O Iblis! What happened to you that you stayed apart from those who prostrated?” 32 [Iblis] replied: "It is not for me to prostrate myself before mortal man whom Thou hast created out of sounding clay, out of dark slime transmuted!" 33 (Allah) said: "Then, get out from here, for verily, you are Rajim (an outcast or a cursed one)." [Tafsir At-Tabari] 34 And indeed, upon you is the curse until the Day of Recompense." 35 (Iblis) said: "O my Lord! give me then respite till the Day the (dead) are raised." 36 Allah said: verily then thou art of the respited: 37 "Till the Day of the time appointed." 38 (Iblis) said: "O my Lord! because Thou hast put me in the wrong, I will make (wrong) fair-seeming to them on the earth, and I will put them all in the wrong,- 39 except the devoted amongst Your worshippers. 40 [Allah] said, "This is a path [of return] to Me [that is] straight. 41 Surely, you shall have no power over My true servants, except those misguided ones who choose to follow you. 42 And lo! for all such, hell will be the promised place. 43 it has seven gates: and each gate has a portion of them allotted to it. 44

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
