And recite to them the news of Abraham, 69 when he asked his father and others, "What do you worship?" 70 They replied, "We worship idols and shall continue to worship them". 71 He said: "Do they listen to you when ye call (on them)?" 72 Or do they profit you or cause you harm? 73 They replied, "But we found our fathers doing the same." 74 He said: "Do ye then see whom ye have been worshipping,- 75 you and your forefathers of yore? 76 They are an enemy to me, except the Lord of all Being 77 Who hath created me, and He guideth me. 78 "Who gives me food and drink, 79 and Who, when I am ill, heals me; 80 who makes me to die and then revives me, 81 And Who, I hope, will forgive me my mistakes on the day of judgment. 82 "O my Sustainer! Endow me with the ability to judge [between right and wrong,] and make me one with the righteous, 83 and grant me the power to convey the truth unto those who will come after me, 84 and make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss; 85 And forgive my father. Indeed, he has been of those astray. 86 And disgrace me not on the Day when (all the creatures) will be resurrected; 87 the Day when wealth and sons will be of no avail, 88 Except him who comes to Allah with a heart free (from evil). 89 And the Garden shall be brought nigh to the God-fearing. 90 and Hell shall be revealed to the misguided, 91 "And it shall be said to them: 'Where are the (gods) ye worshipped- 92 instead of God? Can these [things and beings] be of any help to you or to themselves?" 93 And they will be pitched into it, they and the perverse 94 And the whole hosts of Iblis (Satan) together. 95 Disputing among themselves they will say: 96 By Allah! we were certainly in manifest error, 97 when we deemed you [false deities] equal to the Sustainer of all the worlds 98 It was the evildoers who led us astray, 99 So we have no intercessors, 100 “Nor a caring friend.” 101 Would that we could have a chance to live again so that we might become believers." 102 Indeed in this is a sign; and most of them were not believers. 103 And verily, your Lord! He is truly the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful. 104
