Seest thou one who turns back, 33 Who gives but little, and is niggardly? 34 Or, does he possess knowledge of the Unseen, and can therefore see? 35 Or, has he not been informed of what is in the scriptures of Musa? 36 And of Ibrahim who faithfully fulfilled? 37 That no laden one shall bear another's load, 38 And that for man shall be naught save that wherefor he endeavoureth. 39 and that [the fruit of] his striving shall soon be seen; 40 Then he will be recompensed for it with the fullest recompense 41 and that with thy Sustainer is the beginning and the end [of all that exists]; 42 and that He it is Who causes people to laugh and to cry, 43 That it is He Who granteth Death and Life; 44 And that it is He Who has created the two pairs, male and female? 45 from a discharged living germ 46 And that He hath ordained the second bringing forth; 47 And that it is He (Allah) Who gives much or a little (or gives wealth and contentment), 48 and that it is He who is the Lord of Sirius, 49 That it was He who destroyed the 'Ad of old, 50 And Thamud (people). He spared none of them. 51 and before them the people of Noah who were even more unjust and insolent; 52 And the subverted cities He overthrew. 53 So that they were covered over by what they were covered over. 54 About which, then, of thy Sustainer's powers canst thou [still] remain in doubt? 55 This is a warner of the warners of old. 56 There hath approached the approaching Hour. 57 None, except Allah, can avert it. 58 Then at this statement do you wonder? 59 Why do you laugh rather than weep? 60 while you are thoughtless? 61 Bow instead in adoration before God and worship Him. ۩ 62
