The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the Terror descends 1 Which is bound to happen undoubtedly -- 2 It will bring low (some); (and others) it will exalt; 3 when the earth will suddenly shake with a terrible shaking, 4 The mountains bruised and crushed, 5 So that they will become floating dust particles. 6 you shall be divided into three parties, 7 Those of the right hand -- how (happy) will be those of the right hand! 8 And those on the Left Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Record in their left hands), Who will be those on the Left Hand? (As a disgrace for them, because they will enter Hell). 9 The foremost ones (in faith and virtue) - the foremost ones in receiving their reward. 10 Those are they who will be brought nigh 11 They will dwell in the Gardens of Bliss: 12 a good many of those of olden times, 13 and only a few of them from the later generations. 14 upon close-wrought couches 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 There wait on them immortal youths 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of pure drink; 18 neither causing headaches, nor intoxication; 19 Also, they will be served with the fruits of their choice 20 And the meat of fowl, from whatever they desire. 21 And there will be fair ones large eyed. 22 as the likeness of hidden pearls, 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 There hear they no vain speaking nor recrimination 25 (Naught) but the saying: Peace, (and again) Peace. 26 The Companions of the Right Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 27 Midst lote-trees thornless. 28 and flower-clad acacias, 29 And shade extended 30 Gushing water, 31 and fruit abounding, 32 That will neither finish, nor ever be stopped. 33 And maidens incomparable. 34 We have indeed developed these women with an excellent development. 35 So made them as maidens. 36 Lovers, friends, 37 For the sake of the companions of the right hand. 38
