The News (Al-Naba')
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej) before The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ About what are they asking one another? 1 About the awesome tiding [of resurrection,] 2 Concerning which they are in disagreement. 3 No indeed; they shall soon know! 4 Verily, verily they shall soon (come to) know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a place to rest 6 and raised the mountains like supporting poles? 7 And We have created you in pairs, 8 and made your sleep a means of repose, 9 And have appointed the night as a cloak, 10 and We appointed day for a livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong ones, 12 and We have set therein a glowing lamp. 13 From the rain clouds We send waters pouring down in abundance, 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetables, 15 And gardens thick with trees. 16 Indeed, the Day of Decision is an appointed time, 17 The day on which the trumpet shall be blown so you shall come forth in hosts, 18 The heavens will have openings like doors. 19 And the mountains will be moved they will therefore become like mirages. 20 Hell will lie in wait (for its prey). 21 a return for the insolent, 22 therein they shall abide for ages, 23 They will not taste therein cool or any drink. 24 only burning despair and ice-cold darkness: 25 A fitting recompense (for them). 26 They indeed hoped not for a reckoning, 27 having given the lie to Our messages one and all: 28 And everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 So taste! for We will not add to you aught but chastisement. 30

Notes and Instructions
When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
