He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because the blind man had come in his august presence. 2 And what would make you know that he would purify himself, 3 or take heed and derive benefit from [Our] warning? 4 As for he who thinks himself without need, 5 Unto him thou payest regard. 6 Yet it is not thy concern if he grow not (in grace). 7 And to him who came to you eagerly 8 and fearfully, 9 you pay him no heed. 10 Indeed, this [Quran] is an admonition. 11 and whosoever wills, shall remember it. 12 It is contained in scrolls highly honoured, 13 Exalted and purified, 14 borne by the hands of scribes, 15 Who are noble, virtuous. 16 Man is (self-)destroyed: how ungrateful! 17 Of what thing did He create him? 18 He created him from a living germ. He determined his fate 19 Then doth He make His path smooth for him; 20 Then He causes him to die, then assigns to him a grave, 21 Then, when He will, He bringeth him again to life. 22 No! Man has not yet accomplished what He commanded him. 23 Let man reflect on the food he eats. 24 how We pour down rain in abundance, 25 then We split the earth in fissures 26 We make the grain grow out of it, 27 And grapes and green fodder 28 And Olives and Dates, 29 Orchards thick with trees, 30 and fruits and pastures – 31 for you and for your animals to enjoy. 32 But when there comes the Deafening Blast 33 On that day man will run away from his brother. 34 And from his mother and his father, 35 wife and sons, 36 on that Day every man among them will have enough concern of his own -- 37 on that Day some faces will be beaming, 38 laughing, rejoicing at glad tidings. 39 but some faces will be covered with dust 40 Darkness shall cover them. 41 Those are the disbelievers, the wicked. 42
