The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Woe to those who give short measure, 1 Those who, when they have to receive by measure from men, exact full measure, 2 Whereas when they give others after measuring or weighing, they give them less! 3 Do they not think that they will be called to account?- 4 On a grievous day, 5 The Day when mankind will stand before the Lord of the Universe? 6 Indeed, the record of the disbelievers is in the lowest place, the Sijjeen. 7 Ah! what will convey unto thee what Sijjin is! - 8 It is a Book inscribed. 9 Woe that day unto those who cry it lies, 10 those that give the lie to the Day of Recompense. 11 And none belieth it save each trespasser, sinner. 12 When Our verses are recited to him, he says, "Legends of the former peoples." 13 No indeed; but that they were earning has rusted upon their hearts. 14 Verily, from (the Light of) their Lord, that Day, will they be veiled. 15 Then they will indeed burn in Hell. 16 Then it will be said: 'this is that which ye were wont to belie.' 17 Nay, but the record of the righteous is in 'Illiyin - 18 And what do you know what the Illiyoon are! 19 It is a comprehensively written Book (of records). 20 which the angels placed near Allah to safeguard. 21 Verily the pious will be in heaven, 22 On thrones, watching. 23 Thou wilt recognise in their faces the beaming brightness of Bliss. 24 They will be given a drink of pure wine, sealed, 25 Whose seal is musk - for this let (all) those strive who strive for bliss - 26 And its mixture is of Tasneem, 27 a spring, the nearest ones to God will drink from it. 28 Behold, the sinners were laughing at the believers, 29 And, when they passed them, to wink at each other, 30 And when they returned to their own people, they would return jesting; 31 And when they saw them, they said: "They have indeed gone astray." 32 Yet they were not sent to be their guardians. 33 So today those who believe shall laugh at the unbelievers; 34 On adorned couches, observing. 35 Have those who deny the truth [not] been paid back for their deeds? 36
