The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
I CALL THE night to witness when it covers over, 1 and the day as it rises bright! 2 Consider the creation of the male and the female! 3 Your striving is most surely (directed to) various (ends). 4 We shall facilitate the path to bliss 5 and believes in the truth of what is right, 6 We will indeed make smooth for him the path to Bliss. 7 But as for one who is miserly and unheeding, 8 And rejects goodness, 9 We shall pave his way to hardship, 10 and their wealth will be of no benefit to them when they face destruction. 11 Surely it is for Us to show the Right Way, 12 And indeed, to Us belongs the Hereafter and the first [life]. 13 Therefore I warn you of the fire that flames: 14 none shall enter it but the most wicked, 15 The one who denied and turned away. 16 But the God-fearing shall be kept away from it, 17 Those who spend their wealth for increase in self-purification, 18 not as payment for any favours that he received, 19 but only out of a longing for the countenance of his Sustainer, the All-Highest: 20 He verily will be content. 21
God the Almighty always says the truth.
