The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
(Muhammad), read in the name of your Lord who created (all things). 1 created man from a clot of congealed blood. 2 Recite thou: And thy Lord is the Most Bounteous, 3 who has taught [man] the use of the pen 4 taught Man that he knew not. 5 No! [But] indeed, man transgresses 6 because he thinks that he is independent. 7 Verily unto thy Lord is the return. 8 Have you seen the one who forbids 9 a servant [of God] from praying? 10 Bethinkest thou, if he is himself guided, 11 Or enjoins righteousness? 12 Did you consider: what if he gives the lie (to the Truth) and turns away (from it)? 13 Does he, then, not know that God sees [all]? 14 Let him know that if he does not desist, We shall certainly drag him by his forelocks, 15 A lying, sinful forelock! 16 Then, let him call upon his council (of helpers), 17 We will call the angels of Hell. 18 By no means! Obey not thou him. Continue to adore, and continue to draw nigh. ۩ 19
True are the words of God the Almighty.
