And assuredly Harun had said unto them afore: O my people! ye are only being tempted thereby; and verily your Lord is the Compassionate; so follow me and obey my command. 90 [But] they answered: "By no means shall we cease to worship it until Moses comes back to us!" 91 Moses said to Aaron, "What prevented you, when you saw that they had gone astray, 92 That thou followedst me not! Hast thou disobeyed my command? 93 "O son of my mother," (Aaron cried), do not pull me by my beard or my hair! I was really afraid you may say that I had created a rift among the children of Israel, and did not pay heed to your command." 94 Moses asked: "O Sameri, what was the matter?" 95 (Samiri) said: "I saw what they saw not, so I took a handful (of dust) from the hoof print of the messenger [Jibrael's (Gabriel) horse] and threw it [into the fire in which were put the ornaments of the Fir'aun's (Pharaoh) people, or into the calf]. Thus my inner-self suggested to me." 96 Moses said, "Go away! Throughout your life you will not be able to let anyone touch you. This will be your punishment in this life. The time for your final punishment is inevitable. You will never be able to avoid it. Look at your god which you have been worshipping. We will burn it in the fire and scatter its ashes into the sea." 97 Your God is only Allah, the One other than whom there is no god. He comprehendeth everything in knowledge. 98 So We relate to thee stories of what has gone before, and We have given thee a remembrance from Us. 99 He who turns away from it will surely bear a heavy burden on the Day of Resurrection, 100 They will abide in that (state in the Fire of Hell), and evil indeed will it be that load for them on the Day of Resurrection; 101 The Day the Horn will be blown. And We will gather the criminals, that Day, blue-eyed. 102 Mutterin among themselves: ye tarried not save ten days. 103 We know best what they will say, when their leader most eminent in conduct will say: "Ye tarried not longer than a day!" 104
