And recite to them the news of Abraham, 69 [how it was] when he asked his father and his people, "What is it that you worship?" 70 They replied, "We worship idols and shall continue to worship them". 71 Said he: "Do [you really think that] they hear you when you invoke them, 72 Or do they profit you or cause you harm? 73 They replied, "But we found our fathers doing the same." 74 He said: See now that which ye worship, 75 Ye and your forefathers! 76 They are all enemies to me; all, except the Lord of the Universe 77 who created me, and Himself guides me, 78 He who gives me food and drink; 79 and Who, when I am ill, heals me; 80 Who will make me die, then give me life again, 81 and who I am eager shall forgive me my offence on the Day of Doom. 82 My Lord, give me judgment, and join me with the righteous. 83 Make my words come true in the future. 84 And make me one of the inheritors of the Paradise of Delight; 85 Forgive my father. He has gone astray. 86 and do not disgrace me on the Day when all people are resurrected, 87 the Day on which neither wealth will be of any use, nor children, 88 Except him who comes to Allah with a heart free (from evil). 89 For, [on that Day,] paradise will be brought within sight of the God-conscious, 90 And Hell is brought near to the perverse' 91 they will be asked, "Where are those whom you worshipped 92 beside Allah? Can they be of any help to you, or even be of any help to themselves?" 93 Then they shall be hurled therein, they and the seduced ones. 94 And the hosts of Iblis all together. 95 They will say while they dispute therein, 96 'By God, we were certainly in manifest error 97 When we equated you with the Lord of the worlds. 98 Only the sinful ones made us go astray. 99 So none we have as intercessors. 100 nor a loving friend. 101 Oh, that we had another turn (on earth), that we might be of the believers! 102 Lo! herein is indeed a portent, yet most of them are not believers! 103 And verily thy Lord is He, the Exalted in Might, Most Merciful. 104
