(The nation of) Aad belied their Messengers. 123 when their brother Hood said to them, 'Will you not be godfearing? 124 “I am indeed a trustworthy Noble Messenger of Allah to you.” 125 So fear Allah and obey me. 126 I ask of you no wage for this; my wage falls only upon the Lord of all Being. 127 Do you construct on every elevation a sign, amusing yourselves, 128 and raise strong mansions as if you were to live forever? 129 And when you lay hands (on men) you lay hands (like) tyrants; 130 Have fear of God and obey me. 131 And fear Him Who hath aided you with that which ye know. 132 Who has provided you with flocks and children 133 "And gardens and springs. 134 Indeed, I fear for you the punishment of a dreadful Day' 135 They replied: "It is all the same for us whether you admonish us or not. 136 This is but a fable of the men of old, 137 and we shall not be punished." 138 Eventually they gave the lie to him and We destroyed them. Surely there is a Sign in this, but most of them would not believe. 139 Surely, your Lord is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 140
