Thamood, belied their Messengers. 141 Behold, their brother Salih said to them: "Will you not fear (Allah)? 142 "I am to you a messenger worthy of all trust. 143 “Therefore fear Allah and obey me.” 144 "No reward do I ask of you for it (my Message of Islamic Monotheism), my reward is only from the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists). 145 "Will ye be left secure, in (the enjoyment of) all that ye have here? 146 Within gardens and springs 147 sown fields and palmtrees, with slender spathes. 148 “And you carve out dwellings in the mountains, with skill?” 149 So fear God and obey me: 150 "And follow not the bidding of those who are extravagant,- 151 those who spread corruption in the land instead of putting things right." 152 They replied: 'Surely, you are one of those bewitched. 153 You are a mere mortal like us. Show us a miracle if you are telling the Truth". 154 He said: yonder is a she-camel; to her a drink, and to you a drink, each on a day known. 155 Do not cause her to suffer lest you become subject to the torment of the great day (of Judgment)." 156 But they ham-strung her: then did they become full of regrets. 157 and the chastisement seized them. Surely in that is a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 158 And verily thy Lord is He, the Exalted in Might, Most Merciful. 159
