Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Hath there come unto thee the story of the Enveloping Event? 1 Many faces will be contrite on that day, 2 labouring, weary, 3 Burning in the scorching fire, 4 and will be made to drink from a fiercely boiling spring. 5 They shall have no food but of thorns, 6 unfattening, unappeasing hunger. 7 Some faces on that Day will be radiant, 8 well-pleased with their striving. 9 They will live in an exalted garden 10 Where they shall hear no (word) of vanity: 11 therein a running fountain, 12 Therein are thrones raised high, 13 And cups put in place 14 And cushions ranged 15 And rich carpets (all) spread out. 16 Do they not look at the Camels, how they are made?- 17 And the heaven, how it is raised? 18 And at the mountains - how they are erected? 19 And the earth – how it has been spread out? 20 Admonish thou then; thou art but an admonisher. 21 You are not at all a guardian over them. 22 However, as for him who turns away, being bent on denying the truth, 23 will be punished by God with the greatest punishment. 24 Truly, to Us is their return; 25 and verily, It is for Us to call them to account. 26
