Relate the news of Abraham to them. 69 when he asked his father and his people, "What is that which you worship?" 70 They said: "We worship idols, and we remain constantly in attendance on them." 71 He asked, "Do they hear you when you call to them? 72 Do they help or harm you?" 73 They said: nay; but we found our fathers doing in this wise. 74 (Abraham) said, "Do you know that what you worship 75 Ye and your forefathers! 76 They are all enemies to me; all, except the Lord of the Universe 77 Who created me and showed me the way, 78 “And the One Who feeds me and gives me to drink.” 79 who, when I am sick, heals me; 80 Who will cause me to die and then will again restore me to life; 81 and He who will, I hope, forgive me my faults on the Day of the Judgement. 82 (And then Abraham prayed): "My Lord, endow me with knowledge and wisdom and join me with the righteous, 83 "Grant me honourable mention on the tongue of truth among the latest (generations); 84 And put me among the inheritors of Paradise. 85 And forgive my father; verily he is of the erring. 86 And humiliate me not on the Day whereon people shall be raised. 87 “The day when neither wealth will benefit nor will sons.” 88 Save him who bringeth unto Allah a whole heart. 89 "To the righteous, the Garden will be brought near, 90 And the Fierce Fire shall be made apparent unto the seduced ones. 91 And it will be said to them, “Where are those whom you used to worship?” 92 Other than God? Can they save you or even save themselves?" 93 Then they will be thrown on their faces into the (Fire), They and the Ghawun (devils, and those who were in error). 94 Together with the hordes of Iblis. 95 They shall say while they contend therein: 96 By Allah, of a truth we were in error manifest 97 when we considered you equal to the Lord of the Universe. 98 yet they who have seduced us [into believing in you] are the truly guilty ones! 99 And now we have none to intercede for us, 100 Nor a close friend (to help us). 101 If we could only return to the world and be among the believers." 102 Indeed in this is a sign; and most of them were not believers. 103 surely, your Lord is the Mighty One, the Merciful. 104
