The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
By the Mount (Sinai), 1 by the book (Torah) written 2 on parchment for distribution, 3 Consider the long-enduring house [of worship]! 4 And the roof exalted, 5 And the swollen sea 6 VERILY, [O man,] the suffering decreed by thy Sustainer [for the sinners] will indeed come to pass: 7 Of it there is no averter. 8 On the Day the heaven will sway with circular motion 9 and the mountains will move with [an awesome] movement. 10 Will be the day of woe for those 11 and who indulged in false disputes against (God's revelations). 12 The Day they are thrust toward the fire of Hell with a [violent] thrust, [its angels will say], 13 “This is the fire, which you used to deny!” 14 Is this, then, any feat of magic or are you unable to see? 15 Enter into it, then bear (it) patiently, or do not bear (it) patiently, it is the same to you; you shall be requited only (for) what you did. 16 Surely the God-fearing shall be in Gardens and bliss, 17 Enjoying what their Lord has given them, and their Lord protected them from the punishment of Hellfire. 18 “Eat and drink with pleasure, a reward for what you used to do.” 19 Reclining on thrones, in rows; and We have wedded them to maidens with gorgeous eyes. 20 And those who believed and whose descendants followed them in faith - We will join with them their descendants, and We will not deprive them of anything of their deeds. Every person, for what he earned, is retained. 21 We shall provide them in abundance with such fruit and meat as they desire. 22 They will exchange cups of wine free of (incitement to) pleasantry or sin. 23 ۞ And round them shall go boys of theirs as if they were hidden pearls. 24 And some of them draw near to others, questioning. 25 Saying: Surely we feared before on account of our families: 26 But Allah hath been gracious unto us and hath preserved us from the torment of the breath of Fire. 27 Verily, we did invoke Him [alone] ere this: [and now He has shown us] that He alone is truly benign, a true dispenser of grace!" 28
