The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ When the Event (the resurrection) comes 1 There is, at its occurrence, no denial. 2 some shall be abased and others exalted. 3 When the earth is shaken violently, 4 and the mountains will crumble 5 So that they become a scattered dust, 6 you shall be divided into three parties, 7 The people of the right hand - those whose books of records will be placed in their right hands. How happy they will be! 8 And the Companions of the Left Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Left Hand? 9 And the foremost in the race, the foremost in the race: 10 These are they who are drawn nigh (to Allah), 11 In gardens of tranquility; 12 a host of the ancients 13 And a few from the later generations. 14 On thrones decorated, 15 Reclining on them, facing one another. 16 There shall go round unto them youths ever-young. 17 With vessels, pitchers and a cup [of wine] from a flowing spring - 18 that will neither make the head throb, nor intoxicate, 19 And fruits that they may like. 20 And flesh of fowls that they desire. 21 And companions with big beautiful eyes 22 Like pearls safely hidden. 23 Reward for what they used to do. 24 Therein they shall hear no idle talk, no cause of sin, 25 Other than "Peace, peace" the salutation. 26 And the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 27 [They, too, will find themselves] amidst fruit laden lote-trees, 28 Among Talh (banana-trees) with fruits piled one above another, 29 And a shade ever-spread. 30 By water flowing constantly, 31 And fruit in plenty, 32 never-failing and never out of reach. 33 and raised couches 34 We have formed them in a distinctive fashion, 35 and made them virgins, 36 chastely amorous, 37 for the Companions of the Right 38
