The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ What are they asking each other about? 1 Of the mighty Announcement, 2 About which they cannot agree. 3 Nay, but in time they will come to understand [it]! 4 Again, indeed, they shall know! 5 Have We not made the earth a resting place? 6 And the mountains as projections (thereon)? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 and made your sleep a means of repose, 9 and made the night [its] cloak 10 and made the day for earning a livelihood. 11 We raised over you several secure (skies), 12 And have appointed a dazzling lamp, 13 And We sent down rain from water-laden clouds pouring in torrents 14 Thereby to produce grain and plant, 15 and gardens luxuriant. 16 Verily, the Day of Decision is a fixed time, 17 The Day the Horn is blown and you will come forth in multitudes 18 The heavens will have openings like doors. 19 The mountains will be driven away and become like mirages. 20 Indeed, Gehenna (Hell) has become an ambush, 21 a home for the transgressors, 22 there, they shall live for ages, 23 They will not taste therein [any] coolness or drink 24 Except boiling water and benumbing cold: 25 A fitting recompense (for them). 26 Surely they feared not the account, 27 And rejected Our signs as lies. 28 And all things We have recorded in a Book. 29 'Taste! We shall increase you not save in chastisement.' 30
