The Poets (Alshu'araa')
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ Ta-Seen-Meem. (Alphabets of the Arabic language – Allah, and to whomever he reveals, know their precise meanings.) 1 These are the verses of a Book luminous. 2 Wouldst thou, perhaps, torment thyself to death [with grief] because they [who live around thee] refuse to believe [in it]? 3 If We will, We can send down on them a sign from the sky so that their leaders would remain bowed before it. 4 Never does there come to them an admonition from the Merciful Lord but they turn away from it. 5 thus, indeed, have they given the lie (to this message as well). But [in time] they will come to understand what it was that they were wont to deride! 6 What, have they not regarded the earth, how many therein We have caused to grow of every generous kind? 7 Surely in this there is a sign, yet most of them would not believe: 8 Surely thy Lord, He is the All-mighty, the All-compassionate. 9
