And recite to them the news of Abraham, 69 When he said to his father and his people, "What do you worship?" 70 They said, “We worship idols, and we keep squatting in seclusion before them.” 71 He asked: "Do they hear you when you call them 72 or do they profit you, or harm?' 73 They said: "Nay, but we found our fathers doing so." 74 He said: have ye observed that which ye worship 75 you and your forefathers -- 76 They are an enemy to me, except the Lord of all Being 77 "Who has created me, and it is He Who guides me; 78 And it is He who feeds me and gives me drink. 79 and Who, when I am ill, heals me; 80 who makes me to die and then revives me, 81 And He Who, I long, shall forgive me my faults, on the Day of Requital. 82 O Lord, give me wisdom and admit me among the righteous, 83 "Grant me honourable mention on the tongue of truth among the latest (generations); 84 Make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss 85 and forgive my father for he is among those who strayed, 86 And disgrace me not on the Day when (all the creatures) will be resurrected; 87 The Day when there will not benefit [anyone] wealth or children 88 "But only he (will prosper) that brings to Allah a sound heart; 89 For, [on that Day,] paradise will be brought within sight of the God-conscious, 90 And the hell shall be made manifest to the erring ones, 91 It shall be said to them, 'Where is that you were serving 92 Other than Allah? Can they help you or help themselves?" 93 Then the idols and those who strayed will be hurled into the Fire headlong, one upon another, 94 and Satan's legions, all together. 95 And they, while contending therein, shall say: 96 By Allah! we were certainly in manifest error, 97 when we made you equal with the Lord of the Universe. 98 Only the sinful ones made us go astray. 99 And now we have none to intercede for us, 100 "'Nor a single friend to feel (for us). 101 If we could only return to the world and be among the believers." 102 Verily herein is a sign, but most of them are not believers. 103 And indeed your Lord – only He is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 104
