The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ When the Event inevitable cometh to pass, 1 And there can be no denying of its befalling. 2 Abasing exalting. 3 When the earth will tremble, shivering. 4 And the mountains will be crushed, blown to bits. 5 And become dust dispersing. 6 You will become three categories: 7 The People on the Right: and how fortunate will be the People on the Right! 8 And those on the left – how (wretched) are those on the left! 9 As for the Foremost, they will be the foremost! 10 (The foremost ones) will be the nearest ones to God 11 in the Gardens of Delight, 12 A [large] company of the former peoples 13 And a few of the later peoples, 14 On thrones decorated, 15 facing one another. 16 Round about them will (serve) youths of perpetual (freshness), 17 with goblets, and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 by which their minds will not be clouded and which will not make them drunk; 19 And fruits such as they choose, 20 And flesh of fowls that they desire. 21 And (there will be) Companions with beautiful, big, and lustrous eyes,- 22 like hidden pearls, 23 All this shall be theirs as a reward for their deeds. 24 They will not hear any useless speech in it, or any sin. 25 Except the word peace, peace. 26 The Companions of the Right Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 27 They will live amid the thornless lot trees 28 and clustered bananas, 29 In shade long-extended, 30 near to flowing water 31 and an abundance of fruits, 32 undiminished and never denied 33 and raised couches 34 Perfectly We formed them, perfect, 35 and shall have made them virgins, 36 loving and of equal age. 37 for the Companions of the Right 38
