And said the chiefs of those who disbelieved among his people and belied the meeting of the Hereafter and whom We had luxuriated in the life of the world: this is no other than a human being like unto you; he eateth of that whereof ye eat, and he drinketh of that which ye drink. 33 If you obey a mortal like yourselves, you shall be lost. 34 What! does he threaten you that when you are dead and become dust and bones that you shall then be brought forth? 35 ۞ How far, how far, is that which you are promised. 36 There is nothing but our present life; we die, and we live, and we shall not be raised up. 37 "He is only a man who has invented a lie against Allah, but we are not going to believe in him." 38 He said, "My Lord, support me because they have denied me." 39 He said: In a little while they surely will become repentant. 40 So the punishment overtook them in justice, and We made them as rubbish; so away with the unjust people. 41 Then after them, We created other generations. 42 [for,] no community can ever forestall [the end of] its term - and neither can they delay [its coming]. 43 Then We sent Our Messengers in succession, every time there came to a nation their Messenger, they denied him, so We made them follow one another (to destruction), and We made them as Ahadith (the true stories for mankind to learn a lesson from them). So away with a people who believe not. 44 Then We sent Musa and his brother Haroun, with Our communications and a clear authority, 45 unto Pharaoh and his great ones; but these behaved with arrogance, for they were people wont to glorify [only] themselves. 46 They said: "Shall we believe in two men like ourselves, and their people are obedient to us with humility (and we use them to serve us as we like)." 47 So they cried them lies, and they were among the destroyed. 48 And certainly We gave Musa the Book that they may follow a right direction. 49 We made the son of Mary and his mother a sign and gave them shelter on a peaceful hillside watered by a fresh spring. 50
