The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Woe unto the defrauders: 1 those who demand a full measure from others 2 but, when they measure for them or weigh for them, do skimp. 3 What! Do they not expect that they will be raised? 4 On a Mighty Day, 5 The day when everyone will stand before the Lord Of The Creation. 6 No indeed; the Book of the libertines is in Sijjin; 7 And what will make you know what Sijjin is? 8 (There is) a Register (fully) inscribed. 9 Woe, then, to those that give the lie, 10 and those who have rejected the Day of Judgment. 11 And none can deny it except every transgressor beyond bounds, (in disbelief, oppression and disobedience of Allah, the sinner!) 12 When Our verses are recited to him, he says: 'Fictitious tales of the ancients' 13 By no means! Aye! encrusted upon their hearts is that which they have been earning. 14 Indeed! On that Day a barrier will be set between them and their Lord, 15 then they shall enter the Fire of Hell, 16 And it will be said (unto them): This is that which ye used to deny. 17 However, the records of the deeds of the virtuous ones will certainly be in Illiyin. 18 and what shall teach thee what is Illiyun? 19 It is a (repository of) distinctly written record 20 witnessed by all who have [ever] been drawn close unto God. 21 Indeed the virtuous are in serenity. 22 reclining on couches, reviewing (the bounties given to them). 23 Thou wilt recognise in their faces the beaming brightness of Bliss. 24 They shall be given to drink of a wine that is sealed, 25 The sealing of it is (with) musk; and for that let the aspirers aspire. 26 for it is composed of all that is most exalting 27 A spring, from (the waters) whereof drink those Nearest to Allah. 28 Verily! (During the worldly life) those who committed crimes used to laugh at those who believed. 29 And whenever they passed by them, used to wink one to another (in mockery); 30 And when they returned to their own followers they returned exulting. 31 And when they saw them, they said: verily these are the strayed ones. 32 And withal, they have no call to watch over [the beliefs of] others... 33 so today those who believe shall [be able to] laugh at those who denied the truth 34 On thrones, they will look. 35 Have the unbelievers been duly rewarded for their deeds? 36
