(Muhammad), remind them, by the Grace of your Lord, that you are neither a soothsayer or an insane person. 29 Or do they say [of you], "A poet for whom we await a misfortune of time?" 30 Say thou: "Await ye!- I too will wait along with you!" 31 Is this what their senses tell them, or are they a rebellious people? 32 Or do they say, "He has invented it himself"? Indeed, they are not willing to believe. 33 Then let them bring a discourse like it, if they speak truly. 34 Have they been created from nothing or are they themselves their own creators? 35 Or did they create the heavens and the earth? Rather, they are not certain. 36 Do they possess the treasures of your Lord? Or are they the treasurers? 37 Or do they have any stairs, climbing upon which they eavesdrop? So their eavesdropper should bring some clear proof! 38 Does God have daughters while you have sons? 39 Or do you, [O Muhammad], ask of them a payment, so they are by debt burdened down? 40 Or is the Unseen in their keeping, and so they are writing it down? 41 Or do they want to entrap [thee in contradictions]? But they who are bent on denying the truth - it is they who are truly entrapped! 42 Or have they a god, other than God? Glory be to God, above that which they associate! 43 And were they to see a portion of the sky falling, they will say, “It is a heap of clouds.” 44 So leave them alone until they encounter that Day of theirs when they shall be struck down, 45 The Day when their plotting will avail them nothing and no help shall be given them. 46 And surely those who are unjust shall have a punishment besides that (in the world), but most of them do not know. 47 And be thou patient under the judgment of thy Lord; surely thou art before Our eyes. And proclaim the praise of thy Lord when thou arisest, 48 And glorify Him in the night and when the stars begin to wane. 49
