The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
When the sun shall be darkened, 1 when the stars shall be thrown down, 2 when the mountains shall be set moving, 3 the young barren camels are abandoned, 4 And when the wild beasts are gathered 5 And when the seas rise, 6 when the souls are coupled (to their body), 7 when the buried infant shall be asked 8 For what sin she was killed 9 And when the Records of Account are laid bare. 10 And when the heaven shall be stripped off and taken away from its place; 11 And when the Scorch shall be made to blaze, 12 And when the garden is brought nigh, 13 [then] each soul shall know what it has put forward. 14 Rather, I swear by the returning 15 the planets that run their course and set, 16 and the night as it darkly falls, 17 and brightening morning, 18 behold, this [divine writ] is indeed the [inspired] word of a noble apostle, 19 who is honored in the presence of the Lord of the Throne, 20 Obeyed and worthy there of trust. 21 For, this fellow-man of yours is not a madman: 22 Surely he beheld Him on the clear horizon. 23 he is not grudging of the Unseen. 24 Nor is this [message] the word of any satanic force accursed. 25 So where are you going? 26 It is nothing but Good Counsel for everyone in the world, 27 So let those who want, choose the right guidance 28 And what will you wish, except if Allah wills – the Lord of the Creation. 29
