Also mention in the Book (the story of) Abraham: He was a man of Truth, a prophet. 41 When he said to his father: "O my father! Why do you worship that which hears not, sees not and cannot avail you in anything? 42 O my father! truly the knowledge has come to me which has not come to you, therefore follow me, I will guide you on a right path: 43 Father, do not serve Satan, for Satan has indeed been a persistent rebel against the Most Compassionate Lord. 44 O my father! Lo! I fear lest a punishment from the Beneficent overtake thee so that thou become a comrade of the devil. 45 He said: art thou averse to my gods, O Ibrahim? If thou desistest not, surely I shall stone thee; and depart from me for ever so long. 46 Ibrahim said: peace be on thee! anon I shall ask forgiveness of my Lord for thee; verily He is unto me ever so solicitous. 47 I will separate myself from you and from whatever you call upon besides God, and I will pray only to my Lord. It may well be that, in calling on my Lord, I will not be disappointed." 48 So when he had left them and those they worshipped other than Allah, We gave him Isaac and Jacob, and each [of them] We made a prophet. 49 And We granted to them of Our mercy, and We left (behind them) a truthful mention of eminence for them. 50
