Behold, thy Lord called Moses: "Go to the people of iniquity,- 10 The people of Fir'aun (Pharaoh). Will they not fear Allah and become righteous?" 11 He said: my Lord! verily I fear they shall belie me. 12 My breast is constricted and my tongue is not fluent, so endow Messengership on Aaron. 13 And they have a charge (of murder) against me. So I fear that they will kill me." 14 Said He: "Not so, indeed! Go forth, then, both of you, with Our messages: verily, We shall be with you, listening [to your call]! 15 And come together unto Pharaoh and say: Lo! we bear a message of the Lord of the Worlds, 16 [Commanded to say], "Send with us the Children of Israel."'" 17 Pharaoh said to Moses, "Did we not bring you up among us as a child? And you spent several years of your life with us. 18 and you did the deed which you did. You are certainly ungrateful." 19 Moses said: "I did it then, when I was in error. 20 Then I fled from you when I feared you, and my Lord bestowed on me wisdom and made me one of the sent ones. 21 That is a blessing thou reproachest me with, having enslaved the Children of Israel.' 22 Said Pharaoh: "And what [and who] is that 'Sustainer of all the worlds'?" 23 Moses said, "Lord of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them, if only you would be convinced." 24 Pharaoh said to those around him, "Did you hear?" 25 He said: Your Lord and the Lord of your fathers of old. 26 Pharaoh said, "This messenger who has been sent to you is surely possessed!" 27 He said, 'The Lord of the East and West, and what between them is, if you have understanding,' 28 [Pharaoh] said, "If you take a god other than me, I will surely place you among those imprisoned." 29 (Moses) said: "Even if I showed you something clear (and) convincing?" 30 He (Pharaoh) replied: 'Show us your sign, if you are of the truthful' 31 So Moses threw down his staff and suddenly it appeared as a serpent, plainly visible. 32 And he drew forth his hand, and lo! it appeared white to the onlookers. 33
