Anyone whose heart God has opened up to Islam possesses a light from his Lord. But woe betide those whose hearts have been hardened against the rememberance of God! Such people are in obvious error. 22 Allah has revealed the best announcement, a book conformable in its various parts, repeating, whereat do shudder the skins of those who fear their Lord, then their skins and their hearts become pliant to the remembrance of Allah; this is Allah's guidance, He guides with it whom He pleases; and (as for) him whom Allah makes err, there is no guide for him. 23 Is, then, one who has to fear the brunt of the Penalty on the Day of Judgment (and receive it) on his face, (like one guarded therefrom)? It will be said to the wrong-doers: "Taste ye (the fruits of) what ye earned!" 24 Those before them belied, and so the torment came on them from directions they perceived not. 25 So Allah made them to taste the disgrace in the present life, but greater is the torment of the Hereafter if they only knew! 26 And verily We have coined for mankind in this Qur'an all kinds of similitudes, that haply they may reflect; 27 Koran, wherein there is no crookedness; haply they will be godfearing. 28 Allah propounds a parable: there is a man whose ownership is shared by several quarrelsome masters, each pulling him to himself; and there is another who is exclusively owned by one man. Can the two be alike? All praise and thanks be to Allah. But most of them are unaware. 29 (Muhammad), you will die and all of them will also die. 30 Then, on the Day of Judgment, all of you will present your disputes before your Lord. 31
