And whatever affliction befalls you, it is on account of what your hands have wrought, and (yet) He pardons most (of your faults). 30 Ye cannot escape in the earth, for beside Allah ye have no protecting friend nor any helper. 31 And of His signs are the ships in the sea like landmarks. 32 If it be His Will He can still the Wind: then would they become motionless on the back of the (ocean). Verily in this are Signs for everyone who patiently perseveres and is grateful. 33 Or He could wreck them for what they have done; yet there is much that He pardons. 34 But let those know, who dispute about Our Signs, that there is for them no way of escape. 35 AND [remember that] whatever you are given [now] is but for the [passing] enjoyment of life in this world - whereas that which is with God is far better and more enduring. [It shall be given] to all who attain to faith and in their Sustainer place their trust; 36 And those who shun the great sins and indecencies, and whenever they are angry they forgive. 37 And those who respond to their Lord and keep up prayer, and their rule is to take counsel among themselves, and who spend out of what We have given them. 38 And those who, when an oppressive wrong is done to them, they take revenge. 39 The recompense of evil is evil the like of it. But he who forgives and makes amends, his reward lies with Allah. Surely He does not love the wrong-doers. 40 There is no blame against him who avenges himself after he has been wronged. 41 The way (to blame) is only against those who oppress men and revolt in the earth unjustly; these shall have a painful punishment. 42 But indeed if any show patience and forgive, that would truly be an exercise of courageous will and resolution in the conduct of affairs. 43
