Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
By those that winnow with a winnowing 1 And (the clouds) that bear heavy weight of water; 2 and the smooth runners 3 And those [angels] apportioning [each] matter, 4 Verily, that which you are promised (i.e. Resurrection in the Hereafter and receiving the reward or punishment of good or bad deeds, etc.) is surely true. 5 and, verily, judgment is bound to come! 6 By the heaven full of paths, 7 Indeed, you are in differing speech. 8 and perverted therefrom are some. 9 Cursed be the liars, 10 Those who (flounder) heedless in a flood of confusion: 11 They ask; "When will be the Day of Recompense?" 12 The day they will be burnt in the Fire, 13 (and be told): “Taste your ordeal! This is what you were seeking to hasten.” 14 Verily the God-fearing will be amid Gardens and water-springs. 15 Receiving what is given them by their Lord. They were surely the virtuous before this. 16 They slept very little during the night 17 And in the hour of early dawn, they (were found) praying for Forgiveness; 18 and [would assign] in all that they possessed a due share unto such as might ask [for help] and such as might suffer privation. 19 On the earth are signs for those of assured Faith, 20 As also in your own selves: Will ye not then see? 21 And in the heaven is your providence and that which ye are promised; 22 Then by the Lord of the heaven and earth, indeed, it is truth - just as [sure as] it is that you are speaking. 23
