The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
When the sun is wrapped up [in darkness] 1 And when the stars fall, 2 When the mountains vanish (like a mirage); 3 The ten-month pregnant female camels are abandoned, 4 And when the wild beasts shall be gathered together; 5 when the seas are set boiling, 6 And when the souls are paired. 7 and when the girl-child buried alive shall be asked: 8 For what crime she was put to death; 9 When the ledgers are laid open, 10 when the sky is unveiled, 11 and Hell is stoked, 12 And when Paradise is brought near, 13 then, each soul shall know what it has produced. 14 So by oath of those that revolve. (The planets.) 15 The stars which rise and set, 16 The closing night, 17 And the breath of morning 18 Truly, this is the word brought by a noble messenger, 19 [Who is] possessed of power and with the Owner of the Throne, secure [in position], 20 One (to be) obeyed, and faithful in trust. 21 Your companion is not one possessed: 22 he truly beheld [the angel - beheld] him on the clear horizon; 23 Nor of the unseen is he a tenacious concealer. 24 And the Qur'an is not the word of a devil, expelled [from the heavens]. 25 Whither then will you go? 26 This [message] is no less than a reminder to all mankind 27 for whosoever of you would go straight, 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Sustainer of all the worlds, wills [to show you that way]. 29
