The 'Aad belied the sent ones. 123 When their fellowman Hud said to them, “Do you not fear?” 124 Behold, I am an apostle [sent by Him] to you, [and therefore] worthy of your trust: 125 "So fear Allah and obey me. 126 And I do not ask you any reward for it; surely my reward is only with the Lord of the worlds 127 Build ye on every eminence a landmark in vanity? 128 "And do ye get for yourselves fine buildings in the hope of living therein (for ever)? 129 "And when you seize, seize you as tyrants? 130 So fear God, and obey me; 131 and fear Him who has succoured you with what you know, 132 Provided you with grazing livestock and children 133 gardens and fountains. 134 “Indeed I fear upon you the punishment of a Great Day.” 135 They said: "It is the same to us if you warn us or do not warn. 136 This is naught but a custom of the ancients; 137 and we shall not be chastised.' 138 And they denied him; therefor We destroyed them. Lo! herein is indeed a portent, yet most of them are not believers. 139 Surely your Lord is the Mighty One, the Merciful. 140
