He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because the blind man came unto him. 2 You never know. Perhaps he wanted to purify himself, 3 Or that he might receive admonition, and the teaching might profit him? 4 Now he who waxes indifferent, 5 to a rich man, 6 though you will not be questioned even if he never purifies himself. 7 And as for him who cometh unto thee running, 8 and in awe of God 9 Of him you are neglectful and divert your attention to another, 10 Not this way this is the advice. 11 and so, whoever is willing may remember Him 12 (Contained) in honoured pages, 13 Exalted, pure. 14 [Carried] by the hands of messenger-angels, 15 Noble, virtuous. 16 Perish Man! How unthankful he is! 17 Out of what did Allah create him? 18 From a (sperm) drop He created him and then determined him, 19 and made the path of guidance easy for him to follow. 20 Then gave him death, so had him put in the grave. 21 Then, when He willed, He brought him out. (As during the night of Holy Prophet’s ascension, when all the Prophets gathered behind him in the Al Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem. Or when Allah will raise everyone on the Day of Resurrection.) 22 No indeed! Man has not accomplished His bidding. 23 Let man consider his food: 24 It is We Who pour forth water, pouring, 25 and then We cleaved the earth asunder. 26 how We made the grain to grow, 27 grapes, and fresh fodder, 28 Olives and dates, 29 And thick gardens, 30 And fruits and grasses: 31 [As] enjoyment for you and your grazing livestock. 32 AND SO, when the piercing call [of resurrection] is heard 33 On that day man will run away from his brother. 34 And his mother and his father 35 his consort, his sons, 36 on that Day, to every one of them will his own state be of sufficient concern. 37 Some faces will on that Day be bright with happiness, 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 whereas some faces will be covered with dust 40 Veiled in darkness, 41 These are they who are unbelievers, the wicked. 42
Almighty God's Truth.
