Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Hast thou received the story of the Enveloper? 1 Many a face will be disgraced on that day. 2 labouring, weary, 3 about to enter a glowing fire, 4 Given water from the boiling spring to drink. 5 No food for them save the bitterness of dry thorns, 6 Which will neither fatten nor avail against hunger. 7 Some faces on that Day will be radiant, 8 With their endeavour well pleased. 9 In a high Garden. 10 where they will hear no idle talk. 11 A gushing fountain shall be there 12 Therein will be Thrones (of dignity), raised on high, 13 and goblets placed ready, 14 And cushions ranged! 15 and carpets spread out. 16 Do they not then ponder how the clouds were formed; 17 And at the sky - how it is raised? 18 And at the mountains, how they are rooted and fixed firm? 19 And the earth: how it was spread out? 20 So render good counsel, for you are simply required to counsel, 21 You are not a watcher over them; 22 But whoever turns back and denies the truth, 23 Allah will punish them with the greatest punishment. 24 Indeed, to Us is their return. 25 Then, surely, it is for Us to call them to account. 26
Almighty God's Truth.
