The people of Lut gave the lie to the apostles. 160 when their brother Lot said unto them: "Will you not be conscious of God? 161 Surely I am a faithful apostle to you; 162 so fear God and obey me. 163 "And no reward whatever do I ask of you for it: my reward rests with none but the Sustainer of all the worlds. 164 Do you, in the world, want to have carnal relations with males 165 leaving aside those whom Allah has created for you as your mates. Nay, you are a people that has transgressed all limits." 166 They said, "If you do not desist, Lot, you will surely be banished." 167 He said, "I am one of those who abhors your ways. 168 'My Lord, save me and my people from that they are doing' 169 We therefore rescued him and his entire family. 170 all but an old woman, who was among those that stayed behind; 171 then We destroyed the others. 172 We rained down on them a shower (of brimstone): and evil was the shower on those who were admonished (but heeded not)! 173 Most surely there is a sign in this, but most of them do not believe. 174 Yet surely your Lord is mighty and powerful. 175
