The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the Event (the resurrection) comes 1 There is about its happening no lie. 2 Abasing (some), exalting (others); 3 When the earth is shaken with a shaking [severe,] 4 and the mountains will crumble 5 they will become like dust scattered around. 6 you shall be divided into three parties, 7 Thus, there shall be such as will have attained to what is right: oh, how [happy] will be they who have attained to what is right! 8 And those on the Left Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Record in their left hands), Who will be those on the Left Hand? (As a disgrace for them, because they will enter Hell). 9 And those who surpassed have indeed excelled. 10 They shall be the nearest to God. 11 In the Gardens of delight (Paradise). 12 A [large] company of the former peoples 13 And a few of the later peoples, 14 on lavish couches 15 Reclining on them, facing one another. 16 Surrounded by immortal boys. 17 With vessels, pitchers and a cup [of wine] from a flowing spring - 18 that will neither make the head throb, nor intoxicate, 19 And fruits such as they choose, 20 And meat of birds that they may wish. 21 And [for them are] fair women with large, [beautiful] eyes, 22 like hidden pearls, 23 a recompense for that they laboured. 24 There they shall hear no idle talk nor any sinful speech. 25 only the saying 'Peace, Peace!' 26 As for those of the right hand -- how (happy) those of the right hand -- 27 (They will be) among Lote-trees without thorns, 28 And clustered plantains, 29 And in everlasting shade. 30 By water flowing constantly, 31 and fruit abounding, 32 unfailing, unforbidden, 33 And maidens incomparable. 34 We have created (their Companions) of special creation. 35 and made them virgins, 36 Lovers, friends, 37 for those on the Right, 38
